Math Common Errors

These are the common but avoidable mistakes in Mathematics:

  • Getting the working right but writing the answer wrongly.
  • Not reading the instructions.
  • Not eliminating/taking out the wrong answers (in MCQs).
  • Trying to solve the whole question in your head before writing it down on paper.
  • Failing to check the 'possibility' of the answer.
  • Not being neat and structured in your working. Doing your working all over the place.
  • Not using models to understand the question.
  • Writing certain numbers incorrectly. (For example, a ‘0’ might look like a ‘6’)
  • Not finding out what the question is really asking for.
  • Not writing the correct units.
